Bideford desperatly needed a home win to lift spirits at the Sports Ground today after losing four home games on the bounce, a quiet game followed with little real chances from either side.
Bideford started the game as they always do, looking positive and controlling most of the possession, and Robbie Herrera acting as the back man in the first half cleaning up aany loose balls very convincingly. 30 mins into the tie and neither Bideford or Brislington have had many clean shots on goal, but Bideford seem more in control of this fixture.
Brislington had the best chance to break through but a trailing Kenny Griffiths leg on the edge of the area stops the Brislington attack from breaking through. Bettis, an early substitution for injured Darren Hawkins, comes close on the stroke of half time forcing the Brislington goalie Nick Yeo into a save.
The half time whistle goes, and although Bideford have the possession and look stronger, they cannot break free to score.
Downing and Gough go close in the opening minutes of the first half but neither make a great connection to the ball, and Brislignton have a couple offside decisions against them on the hour that deny them breaking free,
Sam churchill in the 65th minute had a free kick on the edge of the area, but his direct shot flew over the bar.
On the 72nd minute, Bideford had their best chance to score so far when a Nick Barker cross from the right onto the head of Gough was blocked and the follow-up was deflected onto the bar.
It was only a matter of time before Bideford scored, and in the 75th minute, another Barker cross met by Gough at 10 yards for Gough to finish with power past the Brislington goalie.
Both Densham and Barker had chances over the next 10 minutes to make it 2 - 0 but neither could find the back of the net.
Brislington stepped up a gear in the last 5 minutes, with Kenny Griffiths forced to pull off the save off the match after 88 minutes from a Kristian Millar shot, his effort was pushed onto the bar and out for a corner.
The final whistle blew and Bideford pick up another 3 points that sees them climb up to 9th in the Toolstation League table.
Next game is Away to Dawlish on Saturday. The coach for this match has been cancelled.
