Bideford have stuggled at the start of this years FA Cup run, but have always dug their boots in and come up with the results when it really matters.
Today the draw for the 3rd round of 1st round qualifiers took place and should the Robins beat Frome at home tommorow night they will play Poole Town away at Tatnam Farm.
Bideford have already seen of Keynsham Town in the Prelimary First Round, beating them 4 - 2 at the Sports Ground. Then they pulled off amazing comeback at Street in the next round to earn the 3 - 3 draw, a wonder goal from Rob Francis in the last seconds of the match ensured a replay at home.
Bideford went one goal down in the replay but Bideford came back to score two in quick succession both scored by Robbie Gough, to destroy the hopes of Street once again. Bideford held onto the lead to progress into next round where they faced Frome, once again away from home. ![]() Robbie Gough on form
Against Frome they took a keen early lead from Ellis Laight, and dominated the first half. Going into half time Bideford looked strong and composed, but Frome came back with a goal, and the tie ended 1 - 1.
Another replay awaits Bideford tommorow night at 7.45pm, lets hope they can find the form that they showed in the first half once again and push past the Frome defense.
Should they beat Frome, Bideford will meet Poole Town FC away in the next round, Poole are currently playing very good football in the Wessex League where the hold the top spot after winning 7 of 7 games. The last time Bideford met Poole was in the FA Vase in 2005 when we beat them 2 - 1 in the first round.
Tommorow nights game is destined to be a great game, with so many on form goalscorers in the front line up such as Densham, Lewis, Veale, Mason, Gough and Laight, goals will be plentiful and the cheers for the Bideford team will be loud!
Kick off is at 7.45pm at the Sports Ground, Tickets are £5 for adults and Children/senior citizens are £3 |
