Reserve Lose local Derby 4-1 after lack leisure first half performance,

Shammy made their intentions clear from the first whistle and were first to every ball and it was no surprise when after neat play down the left they opened up the Robins defence and took the lead, which was soon doubled when slack marking in the Bideford back four allowed a visiting striker a clear run at goal. Things went form bad to worse for the home side and Shammy scored their third following a corner and they made it four when a mis-placed back pass gave a Shammy forward an open goal.

Four nil down after 30 minutes the reserves were all at sea and it was 5 minutes before half time before they had their first shot at goal.

The second half was a different game with Bideford far more hungry and Half way through the half Ian Keen reduced the deficit, but despite having more possession Bideford could not unlock the Shammy defence and were restricted to a couple of long range efforts from Elliott Macdonald that were easily dealt with by the visiting keeper and the score remained the same and Shamwickshire ran out worthy winners for their superb first half display.

One positive from a disappointing night was the display of 16 year old defender Sam Shute who ran his heart out for the team.

The reserves will look to bounce back on Saturday away to South Molton, and hopefully they will have learnt that in this league you can’t give sides a four goal start.
